The 10th Edition of the Base Building Code (780 CMR) with Massachusetts Amendments, became effective on Friday, October 11, 2024. On December 2, 2024, the Board of Building Regulations and Standards voted unanimously to extend the concurrency period for the 9th and 10th Editions of the code to June 30, 2025.
By providing for a “concurrency period,” builders and design professionals may choose to use either the 9th Edition or the 10th Edition of the State Building Code. This is critically important for projects that have already been designed and financed, but have not started construction, prior to the adoption of the new code.
The Massachusetts Amendments to the International State Building Code 2021 are available from the State House Book Store and the Unofficial Version of the 10th Edition of the State Building Code 780 CMR at the Board of Building Regulations and Standards site.
